Willie "Billie" P. (Parker) Floyd

January 30, 1920 — September 1, 2014

Willie P. “Billie” Floyd, 94, passed away September 1, 2014. She was born in Cullman, Alabama to the late Seburn and Bess (Burns) Parker and was an Akron resident for most of her life where she was a Garfield High graduate.

Billie worked at Firestone as a Rosie the Riveter and at Polsky’s, and was a long-time piano instructor. She had been a member of the Eastern Central Motor Carriers Association and was a member and pianist at the Akron Baptist Temple for 60 years.

Preceded in death by her husband, Randolph “Doc”; brother, Leldon; and sister, Ann, she is survived by her son, Ronald (Sue); grandchildren, Kim (Gary) Somerville, Terri (Buddy) Tharp and Randy (Dana); 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Eloise (Bob) Vandall and Norma Jean Barson; and many loving relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating.
