Charles S. Fast entered the gates of heaven Saturday morning, September 23, 2023 and is celebrating in the praise and worship of Almighty God and the wonders there are to behold.
He was born April 23, 1942 in Grafton, WV, to the late Frank and Carrie (Sinsel) Fast. After graduation he joined the Navy as a musician and was sent to Naval School of Music in Washington, D.C. Following that, he served with the Commander of the 2nd Fleet on USS Northampton, USS Little Rock and USS Newport News. To complete his service, he was stationed at the US Naval Base in Newport, RI and the Commanders Base Band in Boston, Mass.
Waiting to join him are his wife, Joyce, to whom he was married 59 ½ years on earth and eternally in heaven. He also leaves behind, but always remaining in spirit, his four children, Charles (Susan), Lisa (Chris) Owens, John (Leslie), and Carrie (Tim) Morrison; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Derek, Kegan, McKenna, Holden, Ethan, John, Jordan, James, Gavin; sister-in-law, Susan (Bob); and Tracy Humm Fast Sayres.
Charles was a blessed, hard-working, faithful, loving. Supportive husband and so many other words for this giant of a man who was always quiet and unassuming, as well as opinionated. God created him in just the way he needed to be. He loved his Lord and his family above all, as well as hockey, photography, a zillion CD’s of classical music, as well as Elton John, Elvis, Johnny Cash and most others, golfing, the beach, and being with family. He loved serving God through the church.
Charles was the best husband and father ever created. He knows he will see us again, greeting us with more love than we could ever expect.
"Lord in heaven, hear my cry
Though the bird knows I may die
Join with me in heavenly praise
Join with me our spirits raise
Praise, praise, praise to thee
Sing it through eternity."
