Gertrude "Trudy" Handel Bank

Gertrude “Trudy” Handel Bank, 100, passed away February 6, 2022. She was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to the late Walter and Cecilia (Flannigan) Handel the second oldest of 7 children.

Trudy lived much of her life on Long Island, NY where she worked for the South Huntington School District. She retired to Myrtle Beach, SC, where she was a member of the Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club Women’s Club. For the last 5 years she lived in Cuyahoga Falls and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Casey; grandson, Christian; sisters, Bertha, Muriel and Lorraine; and brothers, Walter and Christian. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Stekelenburg and Kimberley Heilig; grandchildren, Robert, Jan, Melissa, Mieke (Mike) and Michael; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene; close relatives, Fred, Lisa and Eddy; and many loving friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44303. Private interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your preferred animal charity in her name.
