Harry N. "Bud" Gilbert

Harry N. “Bud” Gilbert passed away peacefully on his 93rd birthday May 31, 2021. He was born in Akron to the late Harry I. and Alfreda (Roach) and was a proud 1946 East High School Graduate.

Harry “Bud” was co-owner of Gilbert Supply Co. and was a long-time, active member of South Arlington United Methodist Church. He was extremely active in the community, dedicating much of his life mentoring youth as a church youth group leader, a Boy Scout scoutmaster for 26 years and through his Saturday basketball program he led for 42 years. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; infant daughter, Linda; and sister, Doris Meyer. He is survived by his children, Harry R. (Trauda), David (Sharon), Mark and Susan (Brad) Caswell; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert (Linda) and Thomas.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. at South Arlington United Methodist Church, 790 S. Arlington St., Akron, OH 44306 with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating. Please wear masks. Calling hours will be at church for one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m., with burial at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church.
