James L. McDonald, 84, passed away January 1, 2023. He was born in Akron to the late Geraldine Geddes and Rayfield “R.E.” Wagner and was a proud veteran of the US Army.
Jim was a career over the road truck driver and most recently, enjoyed the many roles he had working at Akron Costume and Design. He was a long-time, extremely active member of Masonic Mount Akra Lodge 680, serving on the Board of Trustees and performing many duties at Craftsman Park. He was also a member of the Valley of Akron and the Shriners, was Commodore of the Boat Club and President of the Campers Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie. He is survived by his loving companion of 31 years, Mary Jo; sons, Michael, Jay, James (Desiree), Jamie and Justin (Collette); sister, Vickie; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Masonic funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 12 – 1 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family.
