Marjorie A. White, 87, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 5:00 am. She was born January 31, 1933 in Bloomington, IN to the late Orville and Anna Clark-Essex, the last of five daughters.
“Peggy,” as she was known by family and friends, graduated from Bloomington High school in 1951, married Pastor Eugene D White I in 1955, and started their family in 1957. Her career blossomed from mother to first lady of the Apostolic Gospel Church in Akron, Ohio. She then became a social case worker for Portage County Human Services until she retired in 1994.
After retirement and the passing of Eugene, she followed her life-long passion to become a missionary in Haiti to support the orphanage they founded in the 1960’s. During 14 years of missionary work, she survived dengue fever, malaria, parasitic infections, and the 2010 earthquake. Through all of her life’s trials and tribulations she never abandoned her commitment to the people of Haiti.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Muriel Cavaness, Martha Tiller and Gloria Jackson; and granddaughter, Kelsey Lee White.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Perkins, of Scottsdale, AR; children, Eugene D. White II and wife Janet Davis-White of White Lake, MI; Mary E. Robertson and husband Sherman Robertson of Silver Lake, OH; Dean J. White of Akron, OH and April S. Perkins-White of San Antonio, TX; and step-son, David M. White I and wife Joyce A. White, of Morgantown, WV.

White; step-grandchildren, Missy R. White, Kimberly D. George, David M. White II, and Tanner G. White; 21 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and colleagues she adored.
