Marvin L. Collinson, 94, went home to be with the Lord September 29, 2022. He was born in Blue Springs, Nebraska to the late Loren and Velma (Glenn) Collinson and was a proud Navy Air Force veteran of World War II.
After his military service, he moved to Akron in 1947 and worked as a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He was a business agent for Local 24 and retired as Secretary Treasurer of Local 571 in 1985. Marv was a member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church and the Mason’s, and was a huge sports fan, especially the Browns, Guardians and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy; brother, Richard; step-brothers, Glenn, Wilbur and Merle; and step-sisters, Gertrude, Joanne and Viola. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ella; children, Gary (Pam), James (Bonnie), Tom (Mary), Dixie, Steven (Nadine), and Denise (Mike); 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Dr., Akron, on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 11 am-1 pm, immediately followed by a 1 pm funeral service at the church with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273..
