Paul F. Gorby

Paul F. Gorby, 97, passed away October 12, 2023. He was born in Wileyville, WV to the late Wells and Rosa (Poole) Gorby.

Paul retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 45 years of service, notably being recognized as the inventor of the sensor belt, and had been a member of Tallmadge Church of Christ. He was devoted to his wife of 75 years, Dorothy, for whom he was caregiver until her passing in January of this year. 

In addition to his parents and Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his sons, Mark and Drew, and siblings, Lena Cowan, Edward Gorby and Norman Gorby. He is survived by his niece and loving caregiver, Brenda (Craig) Devies and other loving family members.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 12 - 1 p.m. with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
