Rev. Raymond E. "Bud" Smith

On Sunday, February 5, 2023, the Reverend Raymond E. “Bud” Smith passed away suddenly at the age of 78. Born in Akron on February 2, 1945, he, along with his wife Ruth, founded Harvestime Apostolic Temple in Hartville, where he served as Pastor for over 44 years. He joined the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ in 1978 and served proudly as a Minister, Presbyter and World Missions Director for the State of Ohio.

Rev. Smith retired from Goodyear Aerospace at the age of 56. His favorite things in life were to serve the Lord, spend time with his family, play softball, go fishing, spend time on his boat, camping, attending conferences, and even cutting the neighbors grass on his tractor. He loved people, was loved and respected by all who knew him, and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Dorothy (Anderson) Smith and father-and-mother-in-law, Delmer and Mary White, he is survived by the love of his life for over 57 years, Ruth; children, Raymond II (Linda) Smith, Christine Smith and Cynthia (James) Maddamma; grandchildren, Raymond III (Brittany), Joshua, Zack, Mary, Jay, Allyson (Rick Jr.), Whitney, Jacob and Adam; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Elijah, Isaiah and Lilliana; brother, Milford (Martha) Smith; sister, Beverly (Roger) Unger; and many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Harvestime Apostolic Temple, 136 Maple St., Hartville, OH 44632. The funeral service will be at the church on Saturday, February 11 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Nelson "Butch" Carter officiating. Private family burial at East Akron Cemetery.
