On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Rose Marie W. Hoyt, loving wife of David Marshall Hoyt, passed away at the age of 83. Rose was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 31, 1936 and was the only child of Clarence and Ethel Wilkerson. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education at Oberlin College.
Rose worked as a music teacher in Maryland prior to moving back to Ohio. After several years of substitute teaching in Ohio, she started volunteering as a Guardian Ad Litem in Summit County. She loved working with children and retired from her volunteer position after 20 years of service. During this time, along side her husband, Rose and David owned and operated their own porcelain and ceramic business creating beautiful figurines and ornaments.
Rose was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church, sang in the church choir and participated in several other organizations within the church.
Rose was preceded in death by her oldest son, David Michael and her parents, Clarence and Ethel Wilkerson. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, David, daughter, Dawn (Scott) Bellinger and son, Daniel (Sarah) Hoyt. Rose had six grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Kost, Annelies Kost, Joseph (Susan) Kost, Marissa Kost, Robert (Blake) Hoyt and Marshall Hoyt as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2220 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 1 pm.
