Yvonne Fairbee died, surrounded by her loved ones, April 28, 2020. Preceded in death by mother Marion Nigh, father Ted Corner, and beloved husband Arlie, she is survived by her sister Diane (James) Walker, brother, George Corner, children Deena Wanzie-Bolet, Christy Box, Kim (Lee) Arny, Michele Thompson, Anita Rardon, Ward (Donna) Fairbee, and Arlita Fairbee, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews join us in our grief. We would be remiss if we did not give special mention to Ann Sparks, who was a longtime friend.
She was graduated from East High School, and worked at GoJo for many years as Jerome Lippman’s personal assistant. She retired from Schindler Haughton Elevator as a well-respected business administrator. She loved riding with Arlie on the Goldwing, and we’d like to believe that she can enjoy many more road trips with him now.
Mom was, above all else, a survivor. She triumphed over poverty, abuse, and cancer, and was strong because of those battles. She often said she did what she had to do to survive, and we are amazed by her life’s journey.
Many thanks are given to Arlita and Danielle. They, and Danielle’s husband, Jesse, gave Mom excellent care every single day through every health battle. We know that if wishes and love could make someone stay forever, she would be here because of yours. Mom’s last months were filled with joy because of the close proximity of her newest granddaughter, Scarlett, who gave her a reason to smile daily.
As we process our loss, keep us in your prayers. We know she was a friend to many, and they will cherish the shared memories and happy times. We pray that those memories give you comfort. We find comfort knowing that she is pain and torment free.
Cremation has taken place, and honoring Mom’s wishes, no services are planned.
