John E. Sunseri, 86, passed away May 5, 2018. He was born in Akron to the late Sam and Flossie (Hathaway), was a 1950 North High School graduate and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
John worked for Kroger’s for 30 years and retired from SGS Tool with 10 years of service. He loved coaching youth baseball and football, traveling, the outdoors and Cleveland sports teams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carmella Hardgrove and nephew, James Hardgrove. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Miralyn “Sue”; children, Steve (Sharon) and Joyce (Jay) Erlandson; grandson, Samuel (Liz); great-grandchildren, Sofia, Clarissa, Casey and Ryan; sister-in-law, Gertrude Turner; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Bill), Tom (Debbie), Debbie (Bill) and Jill; and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Summa Akron City Hospital and the staff of Aurora Manor.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 800 E. Market St., with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating. Calling hours will be at the church for one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
