Catherine "Cathy" M. Stenger, 85, passed away July 10, 2019. She was born in Cleveland to the late Thomas and Jennie (Lothian) Parker and was a graduate of Akron North High School.
Catherine worked in food service and catering for over 50 years, was a 15-year volunteer and member of the Burn Survivors Support Group at Akron Children’s Hospital, and a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, George; children Scott (Joanne) Armstrong, Lynda Wenzel, Kimberly (Jeff) Cockerham and Mark (Andrea) Goettel; step-children Karen and Kenneth Stenger; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands James Armstrong and Earl Goettel; brother Thomas Parker and sister Jessie Pera.
A very special thank you to the staff at The Colony in Tallmadge, especially Chris, Karen and Will. The loving care you provided these past few months will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Brian Nutt officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 2 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) program at Akron Children’s Hospital https://www.akronchildrens.org/pages/ACBC.html
