Ernest R. Tate, 62, passed away April 15, 2021. He was born in Akron to the late Clyde Sr. and Delores (Jones) Tate, was an East High School graduate and was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps.
Ernest was known as a jack-of-all-trades. He was a certified welder/fabricator, had been a foreman on an asphalt construction crew and was a skilled mechanic. If you needed anything done on your car or with tires, Ernest was your man. He was always optimistic and loved making people smile, and was always willing to help anyone in need or the less fortunate, He was a great dad, pappy, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason, and sister, Mary Llewellyn. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Tate and her children, Angel’leana “Angie”, Camren and Jace, and Candy VanPelt and her children, Dustin and Danielle; the mother of his children, Trudy Tate; siblings, Katie, Clyde Jr., Cindi and Gigi; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 12 – 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.
