Robert W. Skinner, 83, passed away November 9, 2018. He was born in Parkersburg, WV to the late Earl and Lucy (Sweezey) and was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War, where he earned the prestigious Bronze Star.
Bob retired from the Akron Public School System with 38 years of service and also worked at Firestone Public Golf Course for 12 years. He was an active member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church and was a youth baseball and football coach in Kenmore for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters. He is survived by his sons, Bob (Martha), Rick (Tracy) and Chris (Michele); grandchildren, Rob, Katie, Cody, Holly, Heidi and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Briella, Olivia and Ruby; brothers, Tom and Doug; sister, Sally; and many other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Dr., Akron, OH 44312 with Pastor Joseph Burkhardt officiating. Calling hours will be at church for two hours prior to the service, from 4 – 6 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Per Bob’s wishes, in lieu of flowers please make donations to Wedgewood United Methodist Church.
