Virginia L. (Malterer) South

Virginia L. South, 80, passed away May 1, 2019. She was born in Akron on May 13, 1938 to the late Frank and Dorothy Malterer and was a graduate of Randolph High School. She worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 20 years as well as Grace Cathedral for over 30 years, where she was also an active member.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Gene and sister, Charlene. She is survived by her step-son, Tim (Angie) South; brother, Frank (Mary) Malterer; sister, Evelyn Malterer; niece, Lisa Malterer; and many loving friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 12 noon at Grace Cathedral – Akron, 1055 Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44312 with Rev. Steve Millar officiating. Calling hours will be at the church for two hours prior to the service, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon with interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
